SUMMER 2018 ANNOUNCEMENT. TO ALL RETAILERS AND GROWERS:
Mulberry Miniatures has found a new a new production grower. Look for Mulberry Miniature plants at your favorite retailer.
These sun loving perennials must have at least 4 - 6 hours of hot afternoon sun although they grow great with all day sun. They prefer the outdoors 365 days a year and require a cold winter resting period of least 45 degrees for several weeks to initiate next year’s flowers. This group of plants will thrive almost anywhere in America, except in the humid southeast states (- you know who you are) and Hawaii.
There is only 1 dwarf hardy trees in this selection.
Hardy miniature tree in the "Fairy Garden Collection" are available from Stanley & Sons Nursery found in many garden centers. If your local nursery does not carry these, please inform them where they can be purchased. These are true miniature trees & conifers. These beautiful are absolutely required for height in any mini landscape.
When growing in containers, use 1 part of an organic potting soil to 1 part of any combination of the following ingredients; extra sharp sand, small gravel (granite, haydite, TurFace) and/or aged bark, to increase the drainage of water. This is very important for especially the miniature trees to grow successfully. If grown in-ground, add the same materials to build up a mounding situation as these plants will not tolerate wet, heavy soil. Consider that most of these perennials thrive in their native alpine conditions with a preference towards gravel/rocky, well drained soil.
Hardy Sun perennials are also popular as bonsai accent plants, garden railroad greenery, along the ballast and close to buildings, and for hypertufa alpine trough and rock gardens.
